Beacon Legal have partnered with a leading Australian construction business in their search for a new Legal Counsel. They are looking to hire someone at the 4-6 PQE level, to be based in their Melbourne office.

We're seeking a proactive and commercially minded construction lawyer to work closely with the senior lawyer on providing legal advice to the wider business. This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad mix of transactional, projects and regulated legal matters in a business playing a key role in the construction space.

About the Role
n
n
Providing commercially focused legal advice across construction and project-related matters
n
Support the business on contractual, compliance and regulatory issues arising across project delivery and operations
n




Provide legal support on tenders and new work opportunities, across a range of procurement and contracting models
n
Assist in identifying and managing legal and commercial risk across construction projects
n
Support the management of claims, disputes and issue resolution, including engagement with external advisers where required
n
Help the business navigate complex project environments, working closely with commercial and delivery teams
n

What type of person will be successful?
n
n
Admitted as a lawyer in Australia
n
Practising as a construction lawyer for 4-6 years, either in private practice or in-house
n
Strong analytical, organisational and stakeholder management skills
n
Commercially minded, pragmatic and solutions-focused
n
Collaborative, adaptable and self-motivated
n
Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, evolving workplace
n
