Job Description
We're partnering with a large enterprise technology business that's investing in the redevelopment of a critical customer platform. They're looking for a Senior API Engineer with strong commercial Golang experience to design, build and own secure, scalable APIs from the ground up.

You'll be responsible for:
n
n
Designing, building and maintaining production-grade RESTful APIs from scratch using Golang
n
Developing scalable backend services and microservices that power high-volume applications
n
Designing efficient data models and working with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Firestore or similar)
n
Implementing secure authentication, authorisation and API security best practices
n
Driving API performance, reliability, scalability and maintainability
n
Contributing to architecture, code quality and engineering best practices across the platform
n
Collaborating with engineers, QA and product teams in an Agile environment
n
5+ years' backend engineering experience building and maintaining production APIs
n
Strong commercial experience developing RESTful APIs in Golang (this is essential)
n
Experience designing scalable microservices and distributed systems
n
Strong knowledge of API security, including OAuth2,



OpenID Connect and secure authentication patterns
n
Commercial experience with MongoDB, Firestore or other NoSQL databases
n
Experience working with cloud platforms (GCP preferred) and modern CI/CD practices
n
Strong communication skills with the ability to contribute to technical discussions and architectural decisions
n
n
Nice to have:
n
n
Experience migrating legacy systems to modern cloud-native architectures
n
Exposure to event-driven architecture, Terraform or API gateways
n
Experience working alongside data engineering or automation teams
n
n
