Overview

Senior Legal Counsel, Asia Pacific & Latin America – Full‐time, based in Sydney Office. The role provides strategic commercial legal advice across the Asia Pacific and Latin America regions, partnering closely with business leaders to support Cochlear's strategic priorities.

Responsibilities

Lead complex commercial, compliance and contractual matters with real impact.
n
Build strong partnerships with business leaders to support operational and strategic objectives.
n
Develop and support compliance policies, procedures and training programs.
n
Negotiate, draft and review a broad range of commercial agreements across multiple jurisdictions.
n
Manage contractual disputes, complaints, investigations and litigation matters.
n
Contribute to global legal initiatives, policy development and continuous improvement activities.
n

Qualifications
n
n
Bachelor of Laws degree.
n
Admission as a lawyer in Australia.
n
Minimum 8‐12 years post‐qualification experience, working at a top‐tier law firm and/or in an ASX‐listed corporate setting.
n
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to provide practical,



solutions‐focused legal advice.
n
Demonstrated experience negotiating, drafting and advising on complex commercial contracts.
n
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
n
Strong problem‐solving, decision‐making and judgment capabilities.
n
Ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines in a fast‐paced environment.
n
High levels of integrity, confidentiality, adaptability and professional resilience.
n
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a global team.
n
Experience supporting businesses across the Asia Pacific and Latin America regions (ideal).
n
Experience in a multi‐jurisdictional legal role within the medical device or healthcare industry (ideal).
n
Experience advising on compliance, privacy and corporate governance matters (ideal).
n
Fluency in Mandarin, Korean or Japanese (ideal).
n
Experience managing cross‐border disputes, investigations and regulatory matters (ideal).
