The Commercial function is responsible for delivering accurate and timely commercial analysis, reporting and long-term strategic planning. Together, these activities ensure a satisfactory return on capital and transparency for key stakeholders.

This is a hands-on role focused on commercial analysis, business case preparation, management reporting, forecasting and long-term strategic planning. The Commercial Business Partner will take a lead role in financial analysis, insights and business partnering, driving the commercial agenda for OneDigital and enhancing commercial capability within the business.

Key responsibilities
n
Commercial analysis;
n
n
Accountable for commercial impact assessment on initiatives and investments, including business case preparation and post-implementation review.
n
Analyse key business drivers to develop commercial insights that improve business performance.
n
Evaluate project-based investment opportunities, including emerging innovation and corporate development initiatives.
n
Contribute to and drive the development of the five-year strategic plan.
n

Business partnering and stakeholder management;
n
n




Partner with functional business units and the leadership team to support delivery of commercial and strategic objectives.
n
Build and maintain trusted relationships with key business partners and stakeholders across Wesfarmers divisions.
n
Influence decision-making through clear, evidence-based commercial recommendations.
n
n
Reporting;
n
n
Use internal and external data sources to generate insights that support fact-based decision-making.
n
Work with the Group FP&A; team to develop and deliver regular reporting on business performance, KPIs, risks and opportunities to key stakeholders.
n
Establish and maintain processes and tools for consistent, reliable performance tracking against targets.
n
n
Skills and Experience required
n
n
Five to ten years in a commercial, finance or FP&A; role, ideally within a large, complex or listed company environment
n
Demonstrated business partnering experience, with a track record of influencing commercial and strategic decisions
n
Experience preparing business cases and conducting investment appraisal or post-implementation review
n
Experience contributing to longer-term strategic or five-year planning
n
Experience working with FP&A; or group finance teams on performance reporting
n




Solid commercial and financial modelling capability, including three-statement modelling and scenario and sensitivity analysis
n
Investment appraisal and business case skills, including the ability to assess commercial impact and return on capital
n
Advanced Excel and proficiency in Power BI or an equivalent BI tool, with SQL or other data querying skills desirable
n
Ability to turn internal and external data into transparent, decision-ready commercial insight
n
Strong communication skills, able to present evidence-based recommendations to leaders and stakeholders
n
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, economics or a related discipline
n
CA or CPA qualified, or actively working towards, highly regarded
n
