About KWILS

Katherine Women's Information & Legal Service (KWILS) is a specialist women's legal service providing trauma-informed and culturally safe legal support across the Big Rivers Region. Our work spans domestic, family & sexual violence, child protection, family law, and victims of crime compensation. Guided by our ********* Strategic Plan, we combine legal services with advocacy, law reform, and community education to create lasting impact.

The Role
n
This is a newly created leadership role, offering the opportunity to grow into senior management while making a difference in women's access to justice. You'll:
n
n
Provide high-quality legal advice, casework & representation in complex matters
n
Supervise and mentor a team of 4 solicitors
n
Act as Principal Legal Officer when required
n
Lead community outreach and deliver legal education
n
Build relationships with stakeholders across legal, government & community sectors
n
n
Regular travel, including overnight stays, will form part of your outreach work.
n
About You
n
You are a values-driven leader who thrives in agile environments and supports your team to succeed. To be successful, you will have:
n
n
Admission as a solicitor in Australia + eligibility for an NT Practising Certificate
n
4+ years post-admission experience in relevant practice areas
n
Experience (or strong interest) in DFSV, family law or child protection
n
Skills in trauma-informed, culturally safe practice, ideally with Aboriginal communities
n
Leadership and mentoring experience within a legal practice
n
n
Additional requirements: Ochre Card (WWCC), National Police Clearance, Manual Driver's Licence.
