We're looking for a Principal Telecoms Engineer for one of our key clients who are seeking someone to lead the design, integration, and implementation of mission-critical communications networks. This is a high-impact role where your expertise will directly influence the reliability, safety, and performance of transport systems millions of people rely on every day.

Responsibilities
n
Lead the design and configuration of secure, high-availability IP/MPLS networks (Cisco & Juniper)
n
Drive integration, testing, commissioning, and migration activities across multi-vendor platforms
n
Ensure network designs meet safety, redundancy, and security requirements in mission-critical environments
n
Troubleshoot and resolve complex network challenges through diagnostics and root-cause analysis
n
Mentor and guide junior engineers, shaping a high-performing communications team
n
Deliver documentation, reports, and procedures that meet strict industry and project standards
n
Qualifications
n
10+ years' experience in network engineering with a focus on design, configuration, and integration
n
Strong Cisco (ASR/Nexus) & Juniper (SRX) background – MPLS, BGP,



OSPF, QoS, VPNs
n
Bachelor's degree in
Electrical/Telecommunications
Engineering (Engineers Australia membership preferred)
n
Professional certifications: CCNP and/or JNCIS/JNCIP
n
Proven experience in large-scale infrastructure or operational technology (OT) environments – rail or signalling highly regarded
n
Ability to thrive in fast-paced delivery environments, managing competing priorities and deadlines
n
