Reporting to the Commercial Managing Director, you'll be accountable for sustainable revenue and margin growth, customer and channel development, forecasting, commercial terms and team capability. You'll also bring a strong sales voice to acquisitions and the decisions that shape how our books reach readers.
This is a senior leadership role with broad influence across Hardie Grant Publishing.
About the role
Key responsibilities include:
Owning and delivering the ANZ sales strategy, budget and channel plans, aligned with publishing priorities
Setting clear revenue objectives and leading timely recovery plans where performance varies from target
Building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and representing Hardie Grant at key industry events
Providing sales input into publishing decisions
Leading, coaching and developing a high-performing sales team.
About you
You're a strategic and commercially driven sales leader who can move confidently between big-picture direction and disciplined execution. You bring deep experience in consumer-facing sales, a strong understanding of customers and channels, and the judgement to balance growth, margin and inventory risk.
You know how to build trusted senior relationships, make clear decisions from data and market insight,
and create the conditions for teams to perform at their best. You're equally comfortable influencing portfolio decisions, negotiating major terms and bringing people together around a shared commercial plan.
You'll bring:
Proven experience in a senior sales leadership role within publishing, books, retail, media or a related consumer product setting
Strong commercial acumen, including ownership of revenue budgets, forecasts, margins, trading terms and promotional investment
A track record of developing key customers and channels and delivering sustainable sales growth
Excellent senior relationship-building, negotiation, influencing and presentation skills
Strong analytical capability and the ability to turn customer, market and performance data into clear action
A collaborative, inclusive and solutions-focused leadership style, with experience coaching and developing high-performing teams
The ability to travel across Australia and New Zealand as required.
What we offer
Hybrid working from our state-of-the‐art Collingwood (VIC) head office or Ultimo (NSW) office
Competitive salary and bonus structure
Learning and development programs
The opportunity to shape commercial performance across ANZ and work with a passionate, collaborative team in a values-driven independent publishing business.
Hardie Grant is committed to creating a diverse, inclusive and equitable workplace. Applicants from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply, including people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people with a disability. We look forward to meeting you!
