Our client is a well established Brisbane based industrial equipment business, selling through both industrial and retail channels. Their products go to market through major national retailers, independent tool and hardware stores and buying groups across metro and regional Australia.
Under new ownership, the business is investing in a fresh, growth focused approach. That means more structure, more rigour, a strengthened management team and a significantly expanded product range coming to market this year. It is a great business at an exciting point in its life.
The opportunity
We are partnering with them to appoint a National Sales Manager to take full ownership of their retail channel. This is a leadership role with real scope. You will own the channel's performance, lead the team behind it, and have a direct say in how the business goes to market.

What you will be doing
Owning the performance and growth of the national retail channel
Leading, engaging and holding accountable a national territory sales team
Building and deepening relationships with category managers and buyers at major national retailers to secure broader ranging
Developing and executing a proper national retail sales plan
Driving retail channel marketing, including co-op campaigns with retailers, in store and catalogue promotions and new product launch activity
Managing buying group relationships and representing the business at trade shows
Retaining two small territories while you settle in,



then transitioning to a pure leadership focus
Contributing to the wider business as part of the senior management group
Oversee Marketing (graphic designer, working with the engineer that does drawings, be the point of contact for the external marketing agency).
What you will bring
Experience selling through a retail or hardware channel, ideally with tools, power equipment or a related industrial product
A solid understanding of how national retailers and buying groups range, catalogue and buy, including seasonal ranging cycles
Existing relationships and credibility with category managers at major national retailers so you can hit the ground running
Proven people leadership. You can drive and motivate a territory sales team and hold them accountable without disrupting what is already working
Commercial acumen across pricing, product mix and channel performance
Ambition. This suits someone hitting the ceiling in a state or key account role who is ready for the step up to national
Culture fit matters here. The business wants a consultative, team oriented operator who is direct enough to own the results.
What is on offer
$140,000 to $160,000 base plus super, depending on experience
