Job Description
Job Responsibilities
n
n
Lead one or more cross‐functional squads within the SAP domain, owning delivery outcomes, team health, and engineering quality across a more complex or ambiguous problem space.
n
Partner with Product Management counterparts to maintain a healthy backlog, align on priorities, and sequence delivery in a sustainable and high‐impact way.
n
Own the performance and development of direct reports – set clear expectations, run structured 1:1s, provide timely feedback, and build individual growth plans aligned to career goals.
n
Manage a broad stakeholder group, including escalating and resolving delivery risks, navigating competing demands across teams, and maintaining alignment across functions.
n
Drive engineering excellence within squads: champion contemporary practices such as TDD, CI/CD, trunk‐based development, and sound software design patterns.
n
Contribute to cross‐team technical decisions in collaboration with Principal/Staff Engineers and the Senior Engineering Manager, particularly on non‐functional requirements, architecture, and tooling.
n
Identify and resolve bottlenecks across skills, processes and tooling, driving improvements at squad and domain level.
n
Develop working knowledge of the SAP platform sufficient to guide delivery decisions, assess technical complexity, participate in hiring, onboarding, and capability building for the SAP engineering function.
n
Monitor delivery metrics, ensure transparency of progress and risk, and drive continuous improvement in how squads operate.
n

Qualifications
n
n
Proven experience in a technical leadership role with direct people management responsibility, including performance and development conversations.
n
Familiarity with, or demonstrated ability to develop fluency in,
enterprise platforms such as SAP – prior SAP experience is advantageous but not essential; experience transitioning enterprise platforms to cloud platforms, especially AWS, is particularly valuable.
n
Demonstrated ability to operate across a complex or multi‐squad delivery environment, managing competing priorities and cross‐team dependencies.
n
Experience developing engineers and/or team leads through structured feedback, coaching, and career conversations.
n
Ability to manage and influence a broad stakeholder set beyond the immediate squad, with clear and proactive communication of delivery risk.
n
Solid grounding in modern engineering practices: CI/CD, testing frameworks, software design patterns, and DevOps tooling.
n
Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy in ambiguous or undefined problem spaces.
n
Strong communication skills – able to translate between technical and non‐technical audiences at pace.
n
