Overview
n
We are currently recruiting for a Primary Design Engineer in a permanent role to be based in Brisbane, for our client who are an established but growing organisation in the Power Transmission & Distribution sector.
n
Responsibilities
n
n
Design and develop high-quality Primary High Voltage (HV) systems, including layouts, schematics, and detailed design documentation.
n
Conduct engineering and technical analysis, producing comprehensive reports and design calculations.
n
Ensure all designs meet client requirements, industry standards, and project specifications.
n
Coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated substation designs.
n
Support tendering, estimation, and project management activities when required.
n
Prepare and review detailed substation primary designs including single-line diagrams, general arrangements, and equipment layouts.
n
Provide technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning of primary systems.
n
Ensure compliance with company and client Quality, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
n




Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the project team.
n

Required Experience
n
n
Strong background in electrical engineering with a focus on primary substation design and HV systems.
n
Proficiency in preparing and reviewing detailed design drawings and calculations.
n
Experience in HV substation design, including switchgear, transformers, and busbar configurations.
n
Familiarity with industry standards, specifications, and relevant Australian codes.
n
Solid report writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
n
Experience in tender and project management support is advantageous.
n
Commitment to safety and quality in design and project delivery.
n

Qualifications
n
n
Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or equivalent.
