Department of Justice Permanent full-time which may include flexible and remote working arrangements Strategic and interesting work Collaborative and supportive team Exciting prospect for a Legal Officer to make a significant impact and influence law in the Department of Justice.
Strategic Policy and Legislation (SPL) has wide reaching legislative responsibilities that support the operation of Queensland's justice system.
SPL has teams that focus on specific aspects of policy and legislation.
The Criminal Law Teams focus on law and policy with respect to criminal justice reform (including the Criminal Code and sentencing laws), criminal procedure and jurisdiction, organised crime, drugs misuse and many other aspects of criminal justice policy.
The Civil Law teams focus on civil, public and administrative law issues including human rights, courts legislation, domestic and family violence and child protection, guardianship and administration; privacy and right to information, civil liability and property, trust and succession law.
The successful applicant will be placed in a policy and legislation team having regard to SPL's business needs.
To thrive in this role, you will need: Capacity to develop an understanding of the key issues and emerging trends in the justice system; Capacity to develop an ability to formulate policy and legislative proposals, particularly in relation to justice matters; Demonstrated ability or capacity to work effectively as a team member and engage with stakeholders to build rapport; Demonstrated accountability for the execution and quality of results.
