Taxation Accountant Premier Accounting and Associates Pty Ltd Prospect, Adelaide SA Full-Time | Permanent $85,000 per annum plus superannuation About the Role Premier Accounting and Associates is a growing accounting practice based in Prospect, South Australia, providing taxation, accounting, financial reporting, payroll and business advisory services to individuals and small-to-medium businesses across a range of industries.
Due to continued growth in our client base and increasing taxation, financial reporting and compliance requirements, we are seeking an experienced Taxation Accountant to join our team on a full time basis.
This is a client-facing role requiring strong taxation and accounting knowledge, professional judgement, confidentiality and the ability to independently manage assigned client engagements and workflow.
Key Responsibilities The successful applicant will be responsible for: Preparing income tax returns and supporting workpapers for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships.
Preparing financial statements, including general purpose and special purpose financial reports where applicable.
Preparing Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) and other taxation and statutory compliance documentation.
Managing assigned taxation and accounting engagements from commencement through to completion while meeting statutory, client and internal deadlines.
Reviewing client accounting records, reconciliations and financial information, investigating discrepancies and resolving taxation and accounting matters.
Conducting client interviews and meetings to obtain and assess financial information, understand client circumstances and clearly communicate taxation and accounting matters.
Liaising professionally with clients, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and other relevant parties regarding taxation and accounting matters within the scope of the role.
Assisting clients with tax planning, accounting matters and business structure considerations in accordance with applicable Australian taxation requirements and individual client circumstances.
Conducting end-of-financial-year client reviews and providing clients with an overview of relevant taxation, accounting and planning considerations for the following financial year.
Keeping up to date with changes to Australian taxation,



accounting, superannuation and other relevant regulatory requirements and applying those changes appropriately to client engagements.
Assisting with applicable Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) compliance requirements, including client due diligence, risk assessment, record-keeping and appropriate escalation of relevant matters in accordance with the firm's policies and procedures.
Maintaining strict confidentiality and appropriately safeguarding sensitive client financial, taxation, identity and commercial information.
Attending client premises where required for meetings, stock takes, asset verification and other accounting engagements, including maintaining or reviewing fixed asset registers.
Assisting with general accounting functions, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll, where required as part of broader client engagements.
Essential Qualifications and Experience Applicants must have: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business or a closely related discipline, or a higher relevant qualification.
A minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience in taxation and accounting , with demonstrated experience performing duties comparable to those required for this position.
Demonstrated experience preparing Australian income tax returns and financial statements for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships.
Practical and current knowledge of Australian taxation legislation and associated accounting and compliance requirements.
Experience preparing BAS, IAS, financial reports, reconciliations and taxation workpapers.
Demonstrated ability to independently manage taxation and accounting engagements, prioritise competing workloads and meet statutory and client deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.




Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to conduct professional client interviews and meetings and clearly communicate taxation and accounting matters.
A strong understanding of qualified confidentiality requirements and the appropriate handling of sensitive client information.
Experience with accounting, taxation and practice management software commonly used within Australian accounting practices, preferably including Xero .
A current driver's licence and the ability to travel to client premises throughout metropolitan Adelaide when reasonably required for client meetings, stock takes, asset verification and other accounting engagements.
Desirable The following will be highly regarded: Experience within an Australian public practice accounting environment.
Experience independently managing a portfolio of taxation and accounting clients.
Experience conducting tax planning and end-of-financial-year client review meetings.
Experience preparing general purpose and special purpose financial reports.
Knowledge of AML/CTF obligations applicable to accounting and professional services.
Membership of, or progress towards membership of, CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ), or the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA).
