About the role Sharp Carter is partnering with a leading Australian retail business to appoint an experienced Merchandise Planner .
This is an exciting opportunity to join a merchandise team where you will play a critical role in driving sales, profitability, inventory productivity and business performance across a range of product categories.
Working closely with Buying, Supply Chain and senior stakeholders, you will utilise commercial insights, forecasting and inventory management expertise to influence key business decisions and optimise category performance.
Key Responsibilities Reporting to the Senior Planning Manager, your responsibilities will include: Developing and maintaining merchandise financial plans, forecasts and budgets.
Analysing sales, profit, stock and inventory performance to achieve commercial targets.
Managing seasonal buy plans and determining optimal buy quantities.
Providing commercial analysis and recommendations to support buying decisions.
Monitoring inventory levels and ensuring stock is allocated effectively across the store network.
Conducting post-season reviews and identifying opportunities to improve future performance.
Managing markdown strategies, replenishment activities and aged stock performance.
Delivering insightful reporting and presentations to support strategic decision-making.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams including Buying, Retail Operations, Distribution and Logistics.
Supporting and mentoring team members while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
About you: A minimum of 3 years' experience within Merchandise Planning, Inventory Management or a related retail planning function.
Previous experience within retail, fashion, apparel, footwear or a similar consumer-driven environment.
Strong commercial acumen and a highly analytical mindset.
Advanced Excel and reporting capabilities, with the ability to transform data into actionable insights.
Demonstrated experience in forecasting, budgeting and inventory optimisation.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a quick-paced environment.
A proactive and collaborative approach with the confidence to challenge, influence and drive outcomes.
