Our client is a fast-growing technology company based in Sydney, developing advanced products in RF sensing, AI/ML, and electronic warfare. They're on a mission to solve complex real-world challenges across defence, critical infrastructure, and security sectors, building high-performance hardware that's used globally.

They're seeking a Principal RF Electronics Engineer to lead the design and architecture of next-generation RF systems. You'll shape cutting-edge sensor and communication hardware, guide talented engineers, and ensure the company's RF platforms remain world-class.

About The Role
n
You'll play a key role in architecting and delivering the next evolution of high-power RF and mixed-signal electronics. This role combines deep technical design work with leadership - ideal for someone passionate about pushing hardware limits while mentoring others.
n
In This Role, You Will:
n
n
Lead System Architecture: Define and develop next-generation RF and digital hardware for complex sensing and communication systems.
n
Design & Validate Hardware: Use Altium to create advanced RF schematics and PCB layouts; plan and execute test and validation.
n
Guide Engineering Excellence: Mentor and support engineers in design, simulation, and measurement techniques.
n
Hands-On Testing: Work with VNAs, spectrum analyzers,
and signal generators for performance validation.
n
Drive Manufacturing Readiness: Develop and support production test specifications and debug processes.
n
Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with embedded, mechanical, and systems teams to integrate world-class RF designs.
n
n
You Might Thrive In This Role If You:
n
n
Have 15+ years' experience in RF hardware design and system architecture.
n
Are fluent in RF theory — impedance matching, isolation, filters, and receiver sensitivity.
n
Have built high-power amplifiers and front-end designs up to 100W and 12GHz.
n
Are comfortable using simulation tools such as ADS or Microwave Office.
n
Have hands-on experience with test and measurement equipment (VNA, spectrum analyzer, etc.).
n
Are proficient in Altium Designer for schematic and PCB layout.
n
Enjoy solving deep technical challenges and driving innovation in multidisciplinary environments.
n
Have mentored teams or led projects and thrive when guiding others toward engineering excellence.
n
n
Nice to Have:
n
n
Knowledge of Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems and RF modulation techniques.
n
Experience with antenna design, thermal management, and RF filters.
n
Exposure to multi-carrier systems, receiver front-ends, and global RF compliance standards.
n
n
