National Retail Environment | Multi-Site Network | High Impact Contract Role

A major national retail organisation with 350+ stores across Australia is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer for an initial 4-month contract, with an immediate start. This role is ideal for someone who can quickly step into a busy environment and provide technical leadership across a large-scale, distributed network.

What You'll Be Doing
n
n
Lead and manage the network landscape across national retail stores, distribution centres, and corporate sites.
n
Provide senior-level operational support for all network, security, and wireless infrastructure, ensuring availability, performance, and rapid issue resolution.
n
Oversee the rollout, installation, and configuration of new network equipment and store technologies, meeting tight operational timelines.
n
Take ownership of complex incidents, perform detailed root-cause analysis and implement long-term fixes.
n
Support key IT projects including network upgrades, security uplifts, WAN improvements, and infrastructure refresh initiatives.
n
Review emerging technologies, recommend improvements, and contribute to overall network strategy during the contract period.
n

What You Bring
n




n
Relevant IT qualification or equivalent industry experience.
n
5–7+ years' experience in senior-level networking roles, ideally across multi-site or retail environments.
n
Strong hands‐on expertise with Cisco routers, switches, wireless, and Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate).
n
Deep understanding of VPN technologies, secure remote access, routing protocols, and network security principles.
n
Proven ability to operate autonomously, handle high-pressure environments, and resolve issues quickly and logically.
n
Current or previously held CCNA / CCNP (or similar certifications) highly desirable.
n
Strong communication skills with the ability to confidently engage technical and operational stakeholders.
n
A proactive, team‐oriented attitude with resilience, flexibility and a strong work ethic.
