Access the
Your primary work location will be at one of two hospital laboratories across metropolitan Brisbane, with opportunities to work across sites as required. Any movement between locations will be undertaken with appropriate consultation
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Ability to participate in an established roster covering a range of shifts within the hours of 6:30am to 10:00pm 7 days a week including weekdays, weekends, and public holidays where rostered. The successful applicate will be expected to work a combination of shifts within in each fortnight.
- Flexibility to work additional hours or extra shifts above the minimum contract hours where necessary to support patient care.
- Demonstrate experience or ability to acquire experience in the correct procedures of specimen collection including the application of established policies and guidelines with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge of standard precautions in dealing with patients and biological specimens.
- Proven ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately.
- An established history of well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to function and work efficiently as a team member to achieve organisational goals.
- Prioritise inpatient and outpatient workloads to meet testing Turn Around Times and collection key performance indicators.
- Knowledge or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations, pathology terminology and abbreviations, test names and specimen types.
- Demonstrate a high level of commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
