About the role

We are seeking an experienced Room Leader to lead our Nursery Room with enthusiasm, professionalism, and a deep commitment to early childhood education. The successful candidate will manage daily operations, supervise the education team, and implement engaging curriculum planning.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the Nursery Room, ensuring consistently high standards of education, care and supervision

- Provide strong day-to-day leadership, guidance and mentoring to educators within the room

- Develop, implement and evaluate high-quality curriculum planning and educational programs aligned with the EYLF

- Ensure learning documentation, observations, reflections and planning cycles are meaningful, current and consistently maintained

- Create a warm, nurturing and responsive environment that supports the individual routines, development and wellbeing of babies and toddlers

- Build robust, respectful partnerships with families and maintain regular, professional communication regarding children's learning, development and wellbeing

- Ensure the room operates in accordance with the National Quality Standard (NQS), National Regulations, service policies and duty of care requirements

- Actively contribute to the centre's Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) and ongoing continuous improvement processes

- Support and participate in Assessment and Rating preparation and processes

- Mentor educators to strengthen their knowledge of the EYLF, intentional teaching, reflective practice and quality documentation

- Ensure children's individual routines, sleep and rest requirements, dietary needs and medical requirements are followed accurately

- Maintain high standards of health, hygiene, safety and infection-control practices within the nursery environment

- Ensure effective supervision and appropriate educator-to-child ratios are maintained at all times

- Support smooth room routines, transitions and daily operations, including effective delegation of responsibilities across the team





- Create engaging, purposeful and developmentally appropriate learning environments incorporating child-led and Montessori-inspired approaches

- Participate in team meetings, professional development and reflective practice to support continuous improvement across the service

- Work collaboratively with the Centre Director, Educational Leader and wider leadership team to achieve service goals and maintain high-quality practice

About You

- Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent (MANDATORY)

- Minimum 5 years’ demonstrated experience in early childhood education and care

- Strong experience working with babies and children aged 0–2 years

- Proven Room Leader, leadership and team management experience within an early childhood setting

- Demonstrated experience participating in at least one Assessment and Rating (A&R;) process, with a sound understanding of the National Quality Standard (NQS) and Quality Improvement Plan (QIP)

- Strong understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), with the ability to confidently apply it to curriculum planning, documentation and everyday practice

- Knowledge of, or experience with, Montessori and child-led learning approaches, with the ability to create purposeful, engaging and developmentally appropriate learning environments

- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, compliance and best practice within early childhood education and care

- Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills with children, families and educators

- Current Working with Children Check

- Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications

- Experience using OWNA and/or Kidsoft is desirable

- Completed Foundation and Advanced GECKO training
