Sheppard Mining Contracting is a Goldfields contracting business with big plans for where we’re heading, and we’re looking for multiple experienced Underground Service Crew operators and Leading Hand to be part of it.

Service Crew - 7/7 or 5/2 day shift only roster | $50 – $55 per hour

Leading Hand - 7/7 or 5/2 day shift only roster | $60 – $65 per hour

The Job

You know underground. You know there are days when everything runs to plan and days when it absolutely doesn’t.

That’s when experience, communication and having good people around you matter.

You’ll be working across underground services, helping keep the operation moving and taking responsibility for getting the job done safely and properly. We’re not looking for someone who needs to be followed around or reminded about the standard expected. We want someone who can see what needs doing, gets on with it and is prepared to put their hand up when they need support.

Your work will include:

- Installing and extending air, water, dewatering and ventilation services, including underground pumps and pumping systems.

- Supporting mine development and production activities.

- Operating underground equipment as required while maintaining a safe, productive work area.

As the Leading Hand you’ll have the additional responsibility of:

- Lead the service crew day to day, setting the standard and making sure everyone knows what needs to get done.

- Support and guide your crew, sharing your experience and stepping in when they need a hand.

- Keep work moving safely and properly, maintaining site standards without compromising on the quality of the job.





- Work closely with Supervisors and other underground crews to communicate priorities, solve problems and keep everyone on the same page.

- Plan ahead and keep the crew focused on what needs to happen to support daily development and production targets.

These opportunities are strictly Kalgoorlie residential, FIFO is not being offered. If you are not currently residing in Kalgoorlie Boulder please ensure your application notes your willingness to relocate.

You’ve already spent time underground, so we’re not going to give you a long list telling you what the job involves.

To be considered, you’ll need:

- A minimum of 1–2 years’ underground service crew experience and a current Australian Driver’s Licence, preferably manual.

- Current Working at Heights and Integrated Tool Carrier (IT) tickets, with additional underground RPLs highly regarded.

- A robust approach to safety and teamwork, with the ability to complete a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screen.

- At least 1–2 years’ underground leadership experience,



with the confidence to lead from the front and set the standard for your crew.

- Strong communication and organisational skills – you can keep people informed, priorities clear and the work moving.

- A practical approach to leading people, with the ability to share your experience, mentor crew members and help them build their capability.
