The prospect

We're launching a wash, fold and delivery laundry service in Hobart. We pick up laundry from homes and accommodation providers, wash and fold it, and deliver it back the next day. The ambition is national: a business that begins in Tasmania and grows across Australia.

We're looking for one person to build it. You'll be our founding operator — the first person on the ground, the one who gets it off the ground, and, if you're as good as we're hoping, the person who leads with the business as it grows. For the right person, the ceiling on this role is very high. The person who built the first operation is the one who will have the opportunity to expand the business across Tasmania and ultimately nationally.

What you'll actually be doing

In the early months, this is a hands-on role. You'll be doing the runs and the processing yourself while we build volume. That's by design: the person who's going to lead this needs to know every part of it from the inside and design the systems and processes required to maintain exceptionally high standards.

- Running pickup, processing and delivery end-to-end in the early stage (yes, you'll be in the vehicle and on the folding floor as we get going)

- Setting up the systems, routines and quality standards that make the service reliable every single time

- Landing and looking after commercial and Airbnb clients

- Hiring, training and building your own team. This is central to the role, not an afterthought. As volume grows, you'll recruit the people beneath you and lead them.

- Owning the customer experience and protecting the reputation of a brand-new brand from day one

What success looks like

- Months 1–2: the service is live, running smoothly, and the first customers are onboarded

- Months 3–4: consistent volume, systems documented, first team members hired and trained

- Beyond: you've built a team that runs the Hobart operation at one location, and you're helping shape the launch of the next site

- Hands-on and happy to lead from the front. This starts physical and becomes strategic as you build a team.

- Organised by nature — you build systems rather than winging it.

- Reliable and self-directed. You'll be trusted to run things and make calls on your own.

- Current, clean driver's licence and access to a car — you'll be doing the runs yourself early on, before we bring a dedicated van on.
