About the role

Schutz Landscape is seeking an energetic, organised and customer-focused Garden Centre Retail & Customer Service Coordinator to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation and presentation of our retail garden centre and support the smooth operation of our landscape supply yard. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with people and plants, has strong retail and organisational skills, and thrives in a busy environment where no two days are the same. The role is responsible for customer service and sales, merchandising, plant care, stock ordering and inventory control, customer deliveries, supplier pricing, consignment stock and trade accounts.

Key responsibilities

- Provide friendly, professional and knowledgeable customer service at all times, assisting customers face-to-face, over the phone, via email and through online orders

- Guide customers with product selection, basic plant care, pots, garden products and landscaping supplies

- Process sales, orders, payments and refunds accurately through the Square point-of-sale system

- Maintain a clean, organised and professionally presented retail environment with attractive displays for plants, pots and seasonal stock

- Take responsibility for the ongoing care and presentation of indoor plants and retail plant stock, including watering, monitoring for pests and disease, and routine maintenance

- Take and process customer delivery orders, coordinate delivery run sheets, and liaise with drivers and yard staff to ensure efficient organisation

- Manage ordering of retail products including indoor plants, bagged products, pots, garden products and seasonal merchandise, monitoring stock levels and reordering in a timely manner

- Maintain accurate records of consignment stock received,



sold and returned, and complete monthly consignment sales reports

- Monitor 30-day trade accounts, identify overdue accounts, send weekly statements and follow up outstanding payments professionally

- Maintain accurate stock quantities within Square, regularly check physical stock against system records, investigate discrepancies and complete periodic stocktakes

About you

- Retail and merchandising experience – previous experience in retail sales, inventory management and product display or merchandising

- Excellent customer service skills – friendly, approachable and confident communicating with a wide range of customers

- Horticultural knowledge – practical knowledge of plants, garden care or landscape products, or a strong willingness to learn

- Dependable and punctual – extremely reliable with strong time-management skills and a professional work ethic

- Strong organisational skills – able to manage multiple responsibilities and keep accurate records

- Ability to multitask – able to remain calm, organised and efficient while balancing customers, phones, deliveries, stock and other competing priorities

- Robust attention to detail and good computer and point-of-sale skills

- Initiative and the ability to identify and complete tasks without needing to be continually directed

- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, tradespeople and other team members

- A practical, hands-on attitude and willingness to assist wherever required
