Do you have knowledge and experience in the area of student protection and the youth justice system, with a proven capacity to build and sustain positive relationships with stakeholders and clients within a culturally sensitive environment?
Being a Youth Transition Officer offers you the opportunity to work closely with the regions Court Liaison Officers, other government agencies and stakeholders to develop tailored advice and support to young people and their families and carers.
This is a temporary full- time position until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.

About the Role:

As the Youth Transition Officer, you will build strong relationships with young people and families who may be involved or at risk of being involved in the Youth Justice System.





The Youth Transition Officer works closely with Court Liaison Officers and other regional staff involved in student engagement and re-engagement.

Key to the role will be your ability to develop a strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and procedure across education and youth justice contexts, including operation of the Childrens Court and multi-agency collaborative forums.

This knowledge, alongside solid connections to alternative educational providers, experience in working collaboratively with state school leadership teams, and an enhanced ability to assess young people's educational and support needs, and to scaffold their reintegration into an appropriate education pathway.

Evidenced experience in working with families that are Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander and, more broadly, culturally diverse will be important in your daily work.
