About the Role
n
We are seeking a Sexual Assault Counsellor to join our Clinical Services team on a permanent part-time basis, based in Lismore.
n
In this specialist role, you will provide free, trauma-informed counselling to:
n
n
- Children,
adolescents and young adults who have experienced trauma, including sexual abuse
n
- Children who have displayed concerning or harmful sexual behaviours
n
- Adults who have experienced childhood sexual abuse
n
n
You will deliver individual counselling and facilitate therapeutic group work, while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary, values-driven team.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Provide evidence-based, trauma-informed counselling and psychotherapy in individual and group settings
n
- Participate in intake, assessment, triage and waitlist management processes
n
- Conduct comprehensive client assessments and regularly review client outcomes
n
- Facilitate therapeutic group programs for children and young people
n
- Maintain accurate, confidential and timely case notes and client records
n
- Meet mandatory reporting obligations and manage clinical risk appropriately
n
- Prepare court reports and respond to subpoenas as required
n
- Establish and maintain referral pathways and participate in interdisciplinary networks
n
- Contribute to team meetings, case conferences and organisational supervision
n
- Provide peer support, in-service training and support clinical supervision programs as requested
n
n
About You
n
You are a skilled,
compassionate practitioner who brings sound skilled judgement and a strong understanding of trauma-informed practice.
n
Essential requirements
n
n
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or a related field.
n
- Demonstrated experience providing counselling and therapeutic group work
n
- Strong skills in trauma assessment and intervention
n
- Knowledge of child protection frameworks and therapeutic responses to sexual abuse
n
- Experience working in culturally sensitive and inclusive ways
n
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a team environment
n
- Competency using Microsoft Office and client database systems
n
n
Desirable
n
n
- Postgraduate qualifications in Psychology or a related field.
n
n
