Position Summary
n
The Mechanical Fixture Design Engineer is responsible for designing and supporting mechanical fixtures, tooling, and handling solutions used in recoating processes and production-line parts recycle cleaning within semiconductor manufacturing. This role ensures parts can be safely stripped, cleaned, recoated, inspected, and reintroduced to high-volume production while meeting strict cleanliness, dimensional, and reliability requirements.

Key Responsibilities
n
Recoating & Reusable Parts Support
n
n
- Design fixtures and tooling to support:
n
- Parts stripping, surface preparation, and recoating processes
n
- Handling of quartz, ceramic, anodized aluminum, stainless steel, and coated metal parts
n
- Chemical cleaning
n
- Plasma cleaning
n
- Thermal bake, coating, and curing processes
n
- Design for multiple reuse cycles while minimizing wear, damage,
and deformation
n
n
Production Line Parts Recycle & Cleaning
n
n
- Develop mechanical fixtures for:
n
- Wet benches, ultrasonic cleaning, mega sonic cleaning, and DI rinse processes
n
- Support layout and tooling design for parts recycle production lines
n
- Optimize fixtures for high throughput, ease of loading/unloading, and operator ergonomics
n
- Enable traceability through fixture design compatibility (ID marking, tagging, orientation control)
n
n
Mechanical Design & Engineering
n
n
- Create 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings with GD&T;
n
- Perform tolerance analysis to ensure post recoating dimensional compliance
n
- Select materials compatible with:
n
- Aggressive chemicals (acid, alkaline, solvents)
n
- Cleanroom standards and EHS requirements
n
- Design modular and adjustable fixtures to accommodate part variation and coating thickness changes
n
n
Manufacturing, Quality & Yield Support
n
n
- Troubleshoot fixturerelated issues impacting:
n
- Part damage or contamination
n
- Support qualification of recycled parts before release to production
n
- Drive continuous improvement of:
n
- Cycle time
n
- Scrap reduction
n
- Cost of ownership for reusable parts
n
- Collaborate with process, equipment, quality, and EHS teams
n
- Interface with:
n
- Machine shops and fixture fabricators
n
- Review DFM feedback, validate first article fixtures, and support process transfer
n
- Manage fixture BOMs, revisions, and lifecycle documentation
n
n
Required Qualifications
n
n
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
n
- 3+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably in semiconductor manufacturing
n
- Strong CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or equivalent)
n
- Solid understanding of:
n
- Precision mechanical design and GD&T;
n
- Surface finishing and coating impact on dimensions
n
- Fixture design for chemical and cleanroom environments
n
- Handson experience supporting production or recycle lines
n
n
Preferred Qualifications
n
n
- Direct experience with:
n
- Parts recycle or refurbishment programs in fabsn n
- Familiarity with wafer fab parts (chambers, shields, liners, rings)
n
- Knowledge of EHS and chemical handling considerations
n
- Experience supporting cost reduction and sustainability initiatives
n
- Exposure to LEAN or continuous improvement methodologies
n
n
- Fixture and tooling design for harsh process environments
n
- Solid problem solving and root cause analysis skills
n
- Ability to work cross functionally with production and vendors
n
- Attention to cleanliness, surface protection, and detail
