About the role
n
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our team at Melbourne Neurocare working at all our locations - Huntingdale, Richmond, Noble park, and Box Hill - Victoria. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in supporting our neurological practice and ensuring the highest standards of patient care. As a Practice Nurse, you will be the backbone of our clinical operations, working closely with our neurologists and healthcare team to deliver efficient, evidence-based patient services. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients with neurological conditions whilst developing your nursing expertise in a specialised healthcare setting.

Key responsibilities
n
n
- Providing direct patient care including conducting initial assessments, vital sign monitoring, and preparing patients for clinical consultations
n
- Assisting neurologists and medical staff during patient examinations and procedures
n
- Administering medications and injections under the direction of medical practitioners, including specialised neurological treatments
n
- Performing routine clinical procedures such as wound care, dressing changes, and specimen collection
n
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with privacy legislation and clinical best practice
n
- Educating patients about their neurological conditions, treatment plans,
and self-management strategies
n
- Coordinating patient appointments and liaising with other healthcare facilities and specialists as required
n
- Maintaining a clean and safe clinical environment and ensuring appropriate infection control measures are implemented
n
- Supporting the broader healthcare team to ensure smooth clinical operations and optimal patient outcomes
n
- Contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives within the practice
n
n
What we're looking for
n
n
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse
n
- Minimum of 2 years' recent nursing experience, ideally in a clinical or general medical setting
n
- Strong knowledge of nursing assessment, care planning, and clinical practice standards
n
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
n
- Proficiency in basic computer skills
n
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team whilst managing multiple priorities
n
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and patient privacy
n
- Experience in neurology or specialised nursing is highly desirable but not essential
n
- A compassionate approach to patient care with a genuine interest in supporting patients with neurological conditions
n
