Due to ongoing growth, our Tax and Accounting division, Accountancy Plus, is expanding and seeking a capable Tax Accountant to join our team in Helensvale.
n
ABOUT THE ROLE
n
As a Tax Accountant at Accountancy Plus, you will prepare financial statements, tax returns, compliance workpapers and supporting documentation for a diverse client base.
n
You will work across individuals, trusts and companies, including multi-entity client groups involving discretionary and unit trusts, corporate trustees, bucket companies and individual beneficiaries.
n
Reporting to a Senior Accountant, you will receive structured workflow guidance, review feedback and ongoing development to strengthen your technical skills and support your career progression.
n
This is a full-time, permanent and fully office-based position located in Helensvale.
n
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
n
n
- Preparing year-end financial statements and tax returns for individuals, trusts and companies
n
- Preparing comprehensive workpapers and reconciling balance sheet and inter-entity loan accounts
n
- Supporting trust distribution calculations and documenting beneficiary entitlements
n
- Identifying and escalating potential compliance issues, including Division 7A and unpaid present entitlement risks
n
- Preparing and reviewing BAS and IAS workpapers and draft lodgements
n
- Reviewing bookkeeping records and correcting coding, GST and reconciliation issues
n
- Undertaking occasional bookkeeping work where required
n
- Conducting face-to-face client meetings to prepare and finalise individual tax returns
n
- Managing assigned work to agreed quality standards, deadlines and productivity expectations
n
- Maintaining accurate, organised and confidential client files
n

ABOUT YOU
n
The ideal candidate will have:
n
n
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline
n
- At least three years of Australian public practice accounting experience
n
- Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns for individuals, trusts and companies
n
- A sound understanding of Australian income tax fundamentals and small business structures
n
- Experience preparing or reviewing BAS and IAS work
n
- Strong Xero skills and confidence using accounting and document management systems
n
- Solid Excel skills and the ability to prepare clear, well-organised workpapers
n
- High attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills
n
- The ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and work independently within a team
n
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
n
- Unrestricted working rights in Australia
n
- Experience with SMSFs, trust distributions, Division 7A and multi-entity group structures will be highly regarded. CA or CPA accreditation, or progress towards a professional qualification, is advantageous.
