Job Description

You'll travel around Australia alongside your team driving a range of Army vehicles including:

- Mercedes Benz G Wagon — 4×4 and 6×6 variants
n
- MAN medium 40M and heavy HX77 protected and unprotected variants
n
- Heavy equipment transporter/multi combination — up to 110 tonnes (to carry the Abrams main battle tank).
n

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- loading, driving and maintaining vehicles and their associated equipment
n
- driving loaded and unloaded vehicles in wide-ranging conditions and on all-terrain
n
- delivering personnel, stores, equipment and Combat Service Support (CSS), utilising road, rail, sea and air transportation
n
- operating material handling equipment, such as forklifts, winches and cranes
n
- camouflaging a vehicle
n
- supervising and assisting with loading and unloading vehicles
n
- recovering damaged vehicles using vehicle recovery equipment
n
- operating radio/communications equipment fitted to a vehicle
n
- transporting VIPs up to Brigadier or equivalent rank
n




- navigating through built up areas and in the field using civil maps or military maps
n
- driving specialist vehicles such as Water Tankers and Fuel Tankers.

Skill & Experience

n

n
- I am an Australian citizen, or an eligible Australian permanent resident
n
- I am at least 17 years old
n
- I can start my application at 16.5 years.
n
- My background can be checked to obtain the minimum-security clearance. You must have lived in Australia or have a checkable background for the past 10 years.
n
- I have completed Year 10. You'll need to have passed Year 10 English and Maths.
n
- I am reasonably fit and healthy. Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You'll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don't worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare.
n
- My driver's licence is not suspended or cancelled. You don't need a driver's licence for this role but if you have one, it can't be suspended or cancelled.
