Job Description

We are seeking a Purchase Officer to join LAY BROTHERS PTY LTD in a full-time capacity based in Dandenong, VIC. This is a key position within our Purchasing, Procurement and Inventory department, playing an essential role in supporting our manufacturing and logistics operations. As a Purchase Officer, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process, ensuring we secure quality materials and services at competitive prices whilst maintaining strong supplier relationships. This role is pivotal in keeping our operations running smoothly and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

Processing purchase orders and managing the procurement cycle from requisition through to delivery and invoice reconciliation

n

Sourcing suppliers and obtaining competitive quotations for materials, equipment and services required by the organisation

n

Negotiating terms, pricing and delivery schedules with suppliers to ensure value for money

n

Maintaining accurate records of purchases, supplier information and inventory levels using procurement systems

n

Liaising with internal departments to understand procurement needs and timelines

n

Monitoring supplier performance and addressing any quality or delivery issues

n

Preparing procurement reports and analysis to support cost management and decision-making

n

Ensuring compliance with purchasing policies, procedures and relevant regulations

n

Managing purchase documentation and maintaining audit trails

n

What we're looking for

n

Experience in a purchasing, procurement or inventory role, however not absolutely necessary

n





Experience using procurement software and ERP systems highly valued

n

Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills with meticulous attention to detail

n

Solid understanding of procurement processes, supplier management and inventory control

n

Competent in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel

n

Effective communication and negotiation skills with the ability to liaise professionally with suppliers and internal stakeholders

n

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced workplace
