Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Cadet Building Certifier (Surveyor) to join our dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone currently studying building surveying or a recent graduate of a building surveying course who is looking to gain valuable, hands-on experience in the retail sector, with the potential to explore other sectors as your career progresses.

You will work under the guidance of qualified building surveyors to assist with a variety of tasks, including assessments, documentation processing, site inspections, and client communication within the retail development environment.

Key Responsibilities:

n

Receive and lodge current retail applications for assessment by the building surveying/certifying technical team.

n

Assist in carrying out building certification assessments of applications for retail fit-outs, refurbishments, and new builds, including certificates of final inspection and certificates of occupancy, in accordance with relevant codes and standards.

n

Conduct supervised, comprehensive assessments of Development/Building Approval applications for retail premises and assist with their progression through internal systems.

n

Assist in performing supervised on-site building inspections of retail projects, identifying any structural, safety, or compliance issues in collaboration with the surveying team.

n





Maintain accurate records and update the company's portal with Requests for Further Information (RFIs) and other relevant documentation.

n

Assist with the preparation and processing of building approvals and certificates/interim certificates of occupancy for retail spaces.

n

Communicate professionally with clients, retail tenants, landlords, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding compliance matters and building regulations.

n

Stay informed of current building codes, regulations, and industry standards relevant to the retail sector and apply this knowledge to your daily work.

Collaborate with internal teams to support efficient and timely service delivery for retail certification projects.

n

Participate in ongoing training programs and industry workshops to support your development in building surveying and certification.

About You

n

Eligible for enrolment, or currently enrolled, in a recognised Building Surveying/Certifier course.

n

Strong interest in retail/commercial building surveying (certification).

n

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

n

Detail-oriented with strong organisational and time-management skills.

n

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

n

Eagerness to learn, develop professionally, and grow your career in building surveying and certification within the retail and commercial property sectors..
