Head of Client Relations & Business Development – Commercial Construction

Senior leadership role | National design and construction business | 12-month contract with genuine permanent potential

Our client is a leading national design and construction business delivering complex, high-end commercial architectural projects across Australia.
n
They are seeking an experienced Head of Client Relations & Business Development to lead an established client-facing team, strengthen key market relationships and improve the conversion of major design and construction opportunities.
n
This is a highly visible senior leadership position, initially on a 12-month contract, with a genuine opportunity to transition into a permanent role for the right person.
n The Opportunity
n
This is not a traditional high-volume sales management role. The position requires a commercially astute, relationship-led leader who understands how complex commercial projects are identified, influenced and converted through early engagement with clients, architects, designers, project managers, consultants and construction partners.
n
You will lead the Client Relations and Business Development function, develop the team and work closely with pre-construction and senior leadership to strengthen pipeline quality, client engagement and project conversion.
n Key Responsibilities
n
Lead, coach and develop the Client Relations and Business Development team
n
Build a collaborative, accountable and high-performing team culture
n
Strengthen relationships with workplace clients, architects, designers, project managers, consultants and construction partners
n
Identify and develop major commercial project opportunities
n
Improve the quality, visibility and progression of the sales pipeline
n
Work closely with pre-construction to improve opportunity qualification and conversion
n
Lead important client meetings, project presentations and commercial discussions
n
Improve CRM discipline, forecasting accuracy and commercial reporting
n
Represent the business confidently with senior clients and industry stakeholders
n
Provide market insight and commercial guidance to the leadership team
n
About you
n
You will ideally bring:
n
Senior leadership experience within commercial construction, design and construction, architecture, workplace, building products or a related project-driven sector
n
Demonstrated experience leading and developing client-facing, business development or commercial teams
n
A strong understanding of complex, consultative and relationship-led project sales
n
Experience engaging early in the project lifecycle and influencing commercial outcomes
n
Credibility with senior clients, architects, designers, consultants, project managers and contractors
n
Excellent presentation, negotiation and relationship-building capability
n
An understanding of D&C; methodology,
pre-construction and complex project delivery
n
A collaborative, grounded and low-ego leadership style
n
You will be an approachable and emotionally intelligent leader who can coach experienced people, provide clarity and accountability, challenge thinking constructively and build trust across the business.
