The Waste Network is growing, and we are looking for practical, energetic and data-driven Sustainability Officers to join our casual team.
n
Our people support some of Australia's most recognised events, venues and organisations, including:
n
n
- The Melbourne Cup Carnival
n
- The Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix
n
- The Royal Melbourne Show
n
- Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre
n
- Major education, hospitality, commercial property and venue customers
n
n
This is not a desk-based sustainability role.
n
You will work onsite, helping customers improve waste and resource recovery systems, engage their teams, solve operational issues and report on measurable outcomes.
n
The Role
n
Depending on the assignment, you may be:
n
n
- Supporting major events, venues and customer sites
n
- Conducting inspections, audits and contamination assessments
n
- Engaging customers, contractors, cleaners and frontline teams
n
- Delivering practical training and education
n
- Capturing and validating operational data
n
- Preparing plans and proposals for prospective customers
n
- Preparing customer and event reports
n
- Reporting on strategy, actions delivered and outcomes achieved
n
- Using technology and dashboards to improve performance
n
- Identifying new sustainability and operational solutions
n
n
Data and reporting are central to the role. You must be able to clearly explain:
n
n
- What was implemented
n
- What the data demonstrates
n
- What outcomes were achieved
n
- What should happen next
n
n
About You
n
You may be a sustainability graduate or have experience in events, operations, facilities, hospitality, logistics, waste or customer service.
n
You will bring:
n
n
- Strong communication and stakeholder-engagement skills
n
- Confidence working in operational environments
n
- Confidence using Excel and cloud-based systems
n
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
n
- Reliability, initiative and a willingness to take ownership
n
- Flexibility to work some evenings, weekends and major-event periods
n
- A genuine commitment to being a team player
n
- A positive attitude aligned with a culture built on solid work ethic, professionalism, mutual respect, accountability and integrity
n
- Experience with Power BI, sustainability reporting, waste and recycling or major events will be highly regarded.
n
