Chandler Macleod is proud to partner with the Australian National Maritime Museum to recruit two Retail Assistants for the Museum Shop. This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of Sydney's most iconic cultural institutions and play an important role in creating memorable experiences for visitors from across Australia and around the world.
n These positions are ideal for candidates with strong retail and customer service experience who enjoy building genuine connections with customers in a welcoming, conversational environment. We are particularly interested in hearing from experienced retail professionals, university students seeking part-time work, or parents looking for family-friendly hours that can work around school pick-ups and drop-offs.

Located on Sydney's stunning Darling Harbour waterfront, the Museum welcomes thousands of local, interstate and international visitors each year and offers a supportive, inclusive and community-focused workplace.

As a Retail Assistant, you will be an integral member of the Museum Shop team, delivering exceptional customer service while supporting the day-to-day operations of the retail store. This role is focused on providing visitors with a positive shopping experience through friendly engagement,



product knowledge and skilled service.

Key responsibilities include:

- Providing outstanding customer service and assisting visitors with purchases and enquiries
n
- Processing sales, returns and exchanges through the point-of-sale system
n
- Handling cash and reconciling transactions accurately
n
- Assisting with stock replenishment and inventory management
n
- Maintaining visual merchandising and presentation standards throughout the store
n
- Supporting opening and closing procedures
n
- Assisting with online and phone enquiries where required
n
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure an exceptional visitor experience
n

What's on Offer?

- $34.96 per hour + super
n
- 15-20 hours per week (3-4 shifts per week)
n
- Predominantly Monday to Friday roster
n
- 11:00am - 4:00pm shifts during off-peak periods
n
- 11:00am - 5:00pm shifts during peak periods
n
- Flexibility to accommodate school drop-off and pick-up arrangements where possible
n
- Initial contract until 30 June 2027 with possibility of extension
n

- Previous retail,



customer service or other customer-facing experience

Desirable

- Experience using point-of-sale systems

- Cash handling experience
n
- Experience within tourism, hospitality, museums, attractions or similar visitor-facing environments

- Visual merchandising experience

Recruitment Timeline

- In-person interviews will be held from the week commencing 3 August
n
- Successful candidates will commence from the week commencing 17 August or 24 August
