Chandler Macleod is seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Advisor to join a high-performing Federal Government procurement function supporting complex and high-value procurement activities.
n This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned procurement professional to provide strategic procurement leadership, deliver complex procurement outcomes, and partner with senior stakeholders in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
n This role is a full-time 12 month temporary contract with potential extension. It will be 3 days in the office and 2 days from home and can be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Canberra for the successful candidate.

As a Senior Procurement Advisor, you will lead complex and sensitive procurement activities across the full procurement lifecycle, ensuring compliance with Commonwealth procurement frameworks while delivering value-for-money outcomes.
n You will play a key advisory role, providing expert procurement guidance to business areas, leading procurement strategies, managing complex stakeholder engagements, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the procurement function.

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Lead complex, high-risk and strategic procurement activities from planning through to contract execution
n
- Provide expert procurement advice to senior executives and business stakeholders
n
- Develop procurement strategies, sourcing approaches and Spending Proposals aligned with Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs)
n
- Conduct procurement planning, market analysis, risk assessments and demand analysis
n
- Prepare and oversee high-quality procurement documentation, including RFQs, RFTs and RFIs
n
- Lead procurement evaluations and provide direction to evaluation panels on probity and governance requirements
n
- Prepare evaluation reports, recommendations, briefings and approval documentation
n
- Lead supplier negotiations and contract establishment activities
n
- Support contract management activities, including variations, extensions, performance management and dispute resolution
n




- Ensure procurement activities are compliant, defensible, audit-ready and aligned with legislative and policy requirements
n
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and procurement capability uplift
n
- Mentor and support junior procurement professionals within the team
n

About You To be successful in this role, you will have:

n

n
- A minimum of 5 + years' procurement experience, preferably within a Commonwealth Government environment
n
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, strategic or high-risk procurements
n
- Robust knowledge of the Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs), PGPA Act and associated procurement frameworks
n
- Experience preparing complex procurement documentation, including Spending Proposals, ATM documentation, evaluation reports and contract documentation
n
- Advanced stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
n
- Strong written communication, analytical and problem-solving capabilities
n
- Experience managing multiple procurement priorities within tight timeframes
n
- Qualifications in procurement, contract management, commerce, law, business or a related discipline
n
- A commitment to probity, governance and compliance best practice
n

Security Clearance Requirement

Applicants must hold, or be eligible to obtain and maintain, a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) Security Clearance.
