This is a hands-on finance leadership role where you"ll oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation while working closely with senior management.
n
What we"re really looking for is someone with the technical foundation, initiative and leadership potential to take ownership of our finance function and develop alongside the business.
n
About the Role
n
You'll take the lead across our finance and accounts functions, overseeing financial accounts, payroll, reporting and compliance.
n
You'll work closely with the Managing Director and Operations Manager, providing the financial information and insight they need to make informed business decisions.
n
You'll also guide and support the Accounts team, ensuring the day-to-day finance function runs smoothly and accurately.
n
It's a role with plenty of variety — one day you're reviewing budgets and cash flow, the next you're overseeing payroll,
reconciling accounts, preparing BAS/GST reporting or working with external accountants and auditors.
n
What You'll Be Doing
n
n
- Oversee the organisation's financial accounts and payroll functions
n
- Prepare budgets, forecasts and management reports
n
- Provide regular financial reporting and analysis to senior management
n
- Monitor cash flow and budget performance
n
- Manage accounts payable and receivable
n
- Oversee payroll, PAYG, STP and employee entitlement processes
n
- Prepare and coordinate BAS, GST and IAS reporting
n
- Manage reconciliations, accruals, assets and depreciation schedules
n
- Coordinate annual financial statements and audit requirements
n
- Manage financial compliance across relevant ATO, ASIC and state requirements
n
- Oversee insurance registers, renewals and claims
n
- Support funding reconciliations, acquittals and reporting
n
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounts team
n
- Work closely with HR on payroll, awards and employee entitlement matters
n
n
You'll Thrive If You:
n
n
- Have a degree or formal tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
n
- Are currently studying towards, or interested in pursuing, CPA or CA
n
- Have strong experience across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and bookkeeping
n
- Have excellent knowledge of financial reporting and reconciliation principles
n
- Have strong knowledge of Australian accounting,
taxation and compliance requirements
n
- Are highly confident with accounting and payroll systems such as QuickBooks, Xero and Employment Hero
n
- Have strong STP, payroll and reporting knowledge
n
- Can work independently, prioritise competing deadlines and take ownership
n
- Are commercially minded and able to turn financial information into practical advice
n
- Communicate confidently with senior management, staff, external consultants and auditors
n
- Are solutions-focused, adaptable and comfortable working across a busy organisation
n
- Leadership experience is highly regarded.
n
n
The Opportunity
n
This is a senior role with genuine ownership and influence over financial processes.
n
This isn't a role where we're expecting you to walk in knowing everything on day one. We understand that you may be early in your career.
n
We'll provide the chance to develop your practical experience across accounting, payroll, reporting, compliance and financial management while working alongside an experienced team of consultants.
n
In return, we want someone who is hungry to learn, willing to take responsibility and excited about growing into the role.
n
