Construction Supervisor – Earthworks

Chandler Macleod is partnering with Rio Tinto to recruit an experienced Construction Supervisor to oversee earthworks activities at Queensland Alumina Limited (QAL).

n

This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term project where you'll coordinate contractors, drive safe work practices and play a key role in delivering critical earthworks on dam infrastructure within an operational refinery environment.

n

With an initial 12-month contract and a solid pipeline of ongoing work, this role offers stability, challenging projects and the opportunity to work alongside experienced site teams.

About the Role

n

As the Construction Supervisor, you'll be responsible for coordinating day-to-day earthworks activities while ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and in line with project requirements.

n

Working closely with contractors, operations and site stakeholders, you'll oversee construction activities, monitor progress, manage site risks and keep works moving safely and on schedule.

Key responsibilities include:

- Supervising contractors delivering earthworks activities
n
- Coordinating daily site works and construction resources
n
- Reviewing JHAs, risk assessments and safe work documentation
n
- Managing scope, variations and work priorities
n




- Monitoring project progress and maintaining delivery schedules
n
- Building strong relationships with operations, contractors and project teams
n
- Promoting a strong safety culture across site
n
- Providing regular progress updates to project stakeholders
n

About You To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

n

n
- Demonstrated experience supervising earthworks projects within heavy industry
n
- Strong knowledge of dam construction, tailings storage facilities or similar large-scale earthworks
n
- Experience coordinating contractors on live industrial sites
n
- Sound understanding of JHAs, risk assessments and safe work systems
n
- Background within mining, refining, civil infrastructure or heavy industrial environments
n
- The ability to confidently communicate with multiple stakeholders and drive project outcomes
n

n

Experience working within similar refinery environments, along with exposure to damor tailings operations, will be highly regarded.
