Senior Parliamentary Liaison Officer x 2
n
Parliamentary Services Officer | Up to $700 per day + super | 6 Month Contract | 2 Positions Available | Sydney CBD (Hybrid)
n
Join NSW's Government Business & Services team, providing critical support to Portfolio Ministers by coordinating a range of parliamentary services. This role delivers high-quality research and writing - including parliamentary responses, budget estimates and Standing Order 52 (SO52) responses - supporting to meet its parliamentary obligations efficiently and effectively.
n
Key accountabilities
n
n
- Coordinate the preparation of high-quality, timely parliamentary responses, providing clear direction on requirements and ensuring accuracy and alignment with government policy and priorities
n
- Provide real-time support and intelligence during parliamentary sessions by attending and/or monitoring key parliamentary debates and committee meetings, gathering intelligence for early issue identification and ensuring Transport's position is accurately communicated and recorded
n
- Support the preparation of budget estimates by coordinating the timely development of briefing notes, supporting witnesses, and collating accurate data and responses from across client Divisions and rail operators
n
- Engage with internal teams to anticipate potential parliamentary scrutiny and prepare relevant supporting materials
n
- Support Standing Order 52 (SO52) responses by engaging with Legal and the Cabinet Office to gather necessary data and analysis, ensuring accuracy, adherence to deadlines and compliance with parliamentary directives
n
- Support capability development and continuous improvement during non-sitting periods, collaborating with the Government Relations, Capability & Strategic Insights team
n
- Assist the Government Business & Services team during peak workload periods to support seamless operations
n
- Maintain flexibility for urgent parliamentary responses, including working after hours when necessary
n
- Managing high-pressure, time-sensitive workloads,
particularly during peak periods such as budget estimates and parliamentary sittings, while taking a structured and systematic approach to reduce reactive, ad-hoc responses
n
- Maintaining precision, accuracy, compliance and consistency in parliamentary responses, in line with government policy, legal requirements and stakeholder expectations
n
- Coordinating across diverse stakeholders and managing differing priorities, while promoting proactive, client-focused engagement
n

What you'll bring

- Demonstrated experience coordinating parliamentary processes, preparing high-quality written responses, and ensuring alignment with government policies and priorities
n
- Excellent written, authoring and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to draft clear, skilled, well-crafted responses and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and SMEs
n
- Excellent client engagement and relationship management skills, with a demonstrated ability to coordinate and collaborate across diverse teams
n
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure, manage high-priority requests, and meet tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
n
- An appropriate qualification and/or relevant professional experience
