Therapeutic Youth Worker - Newcastle & Maitland

Locations: Newcastle and Surrounding Areas.

Be Recruitment is seeking passionate and skilled Therapeutic Youth Workers to join a dedicated team delivering high-quality, trauma-informed care to children and young people with complex needs.

n

This role is within a residential care setting and requires candidates to hold a minimum Cert IV qualification in Community Services, Youth Work, or a related field – this is non-negotiable.

About the Role

n

As a Therapeutic Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people who have experienced significant trauma, abuse, and neglect. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will:

- Provide consistent therapeutic care, grounded in trauma-informed practice
n
- Model positive, pro-social behaviours to help young people develop healthy relationships and life skills
n
- Create a safe, nurturing, and structured home setting
n
- Support young people in understanding and managing trauma-related behaviours
n
- Encourage engagement in educational, recreational, and community activities
n
- Assist with daily routines including personal care, meals, school attendance, and appointments
n




- Maintain accurate records and incident reports in line with organisational procedures
n

Key Requirements

n

n
- Cert IV or higher in Community Services, Youth Work or similar – mandatory
n
- Minimum six months of paid experience working as a Therapeutic Youth Worker – mandatory
n
- International Police Check if you have lived overseas for more than 12 months – mandatory
n
- Full NSW Driver's Licence
n
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
n
- Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC)
n
- Willingness to undergo a National Police Check
n
- COVID-19 vaccination or valid medical exemption
n
- Foundational Elements of Therapeutic Care Training
n
- Joint Protocol Training for Residential Workers
n
- Availability to work a rotating roster, including days, evenings, weekends, and sleepovers
n
