About The Role

n

As a Welfare Officer, you will work closely with detainees to assess their needs, provide support, and facilitate access to services that promote wellbeing, engagement, and positive outcomes.

n

This is a full‐time position based at the Melbourne Immigration Detention Centre (MIDC) in Broadmeadows.

n

The role operates on a six‐week rotational roster, with 12‐hour shifts from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. You will work 7 shifts per fortnight, providing a balanced work schedule while ensuring continuous support for detainees.

Key responsibilities include:

n

- Deliver evidence‐based assessments and welfare interventions
n
- Develop and regularly review individual care plans
n
- Support detainees in building life skills and social capacity
n
- Ensure access to culturally specific services and programs
n




- Maintain accurate case notes and timely reporting
n
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the facility
n
- Respond to emergency situations and attend debriefs when required
n
- Support drug and alcohol testing procedures where relevant
n

- Diploma in Community Services or equivalent (mandatory)
n
- First Aid and CPR (or willing to obtain)
n
- Prior experience with complex client's delivery case management services
n
- Valid Working With Children Check (or willing to obtain)
n
- Ability to pass Australian Federal Police Check
n
- Ability to work across the 7 days of the week
n
