Senior Legal Counsel – Construction/ Major Projects/ Renewable Energy - 8+ PQE

Our client is a contractor that specialises in the development and maintenance of critical public and private infrastructure assets. Their services span the full asset lifecycle – from design and construction to operations, maintenance, and remediation.

The Role

n

This role reports directly to the General Counsel and will see the successful candidate join a specialist team that delivers high-value contracts across renewable energy, gas, water, industrial maintenance, and remediation sectors throughout the ANZ region.

n

Key responsibilities will include:

n

n
- Leading and project-managing tender processes for major projects (from initiation to award), collaborating closely with the commercial team.
n
- Negotiating high-value construction contracts with deal values ranging up to $2 billion.
n
- Advising on procurement strategies, including public-private partnerships (PPPs), competitive bidding, and alternative delivery models.
n
- Drafting and reviewing project-specific legal documents, such as letters of intent and framework agreements, to support effective project mobilisation.
n




- Partnering with external counsel to advise on regulatory compliance matters, including environmental, planning, and health and safety requirements during the pre- and post-construction phase. This will involve approximately one site visit per month.

- Assisting in structuring transactions and supporting the negotiation and execution of major project deals across the region.
n
- Providing proactive advice on legal and commercial issues and managing contractual risks to minimise disputes.

Ideal Candidate

n

n
- At least 8 years' experience in front-end construction, projects and related transactions.
n
- Be confident leading a project.
n
- Ideally you have both private practice and in house experience.
n
- Can do, positive attitude who is very comfortable working in a team and managing multi-disciplinary projects across the business.
n
