Locum Consultant Paediatrician - Armidale, NSW

About the Role:We are seeking a Consultant Paediatrician for a short-term locum placement at a rural referral hospital on the Northern Tablelands, NSW. This contract runs from 13 to 20 November 2026, offering an excellent daily rate with travel and accommodation covered. This is a genuine opportunity to practise the full breadth of general paediatrics spanning inpatient, outpatient, neonatal and emergency care, within a team-oriented and well-established regional service.

- Provide care for general paediatric inpatients from birth to 18 years across an 8-bed inpatient unit
- Manage newborns within the Special Care Nursery, providing neonatal care for infants born from 34 weeks' gestation
- Provide inpatient consultation and assessment of paediatric presentations through the Emergency Department
- Stabilise higher-acuity paediatric and neonatal patients prior to transfer when care exceeds local capability
- Support outpatient clinics across general, developmental and behavioural paediatrics, complex medical follow-up and telehealth
- Work collaboratively with registrars, junior medical staff, nursing teams and allied health

About You:

- AHPRA registered Medical Practitioner
- Fellowship with RACP (Paediatrics & Child Health) or equivalent
- Confident across general paediatric, neonatal and emergency presentations
- Comfortable providing clinical leadership within a regional service
- Works effectively both autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
- Eligible to work in Australia
