About the Role

n

Prime Steel Engineering is seeking a reliable and experienced Bandsaw Operator to join our growing workshop team. This position is ideal for someone with a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and experience operating bandsaws in a steel fabrication or engineering environment.

n

You will be responsible for accurately cutting steel and other materials to specification, managing material flow, and supporting workshop operations in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Operate bandsaw machinery safely and efficiently.
n
- Accurately cut steel and other materials according to job requirements and drawings.
n
- Adjust cutting settings, speeds, and feeds to suit different material types and sizes.
n
- Measure and verify materials to ensure cutting accuracy and quality.
n
- Manage and organise off-cuts for future use and stock control purposes.
n
- Load, unload, and move materials using gantry cranes and forklifts.
n
- Maintain a clean, protected, and organised work area.
n




- Work closely with production and workshop teams to meet daily and weekly targets.
n
- Perform routine equipment checks and report maintenance issues when required.
n

Skills & Experience Required

n

n
- Previous experience operating industrial bandsaws in a steel fabrication, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
n
- Ability to adjust machine settings for different material specifications.
n
- Experience handling steel products and managing off-cuts efficiently.
n
- Current forklift licence (preferred).
n
- Experience operating gantry cranes.
n
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
n
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced workshop environment.
n
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
n
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
n
