VE Group AU is a leading Queensland-based civil construction, transport and maintenance contractor. We are seeking experienced Resident Fitters / Mobile Plant Mechanics to support our Ipswich (North Tivoli) operations, providing hands‐on maintenance and breakdown support across our civil plant and equipment fleet.

These roles are site‐based / region‐based positions, ideal for fitters who enjoy autonomy, responsibility and working directly with operational crews to keep equipment running.

About the Role

n

n
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing on mobile plant
n




- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical faults
n
- Respond to breakdowns and urgent repairs to minimise downtime
n
- Work independently across site and depot environments
n
- Identify defects and emerging maintenance issues early
n
- Complete work orders, inspections and maintenance records accurately
n
- Follow VE Group safety systems, including task and machine risk assessments
n
- Liaise closely with supervisors and operators to provide practical technical support
n

This is a hands‐on field role — not a workshop‐only position.

n

What We're Looking For

n

n
- Australian‐recognised Plant and Heavy Diesel Mechanic trade qualification
n
- Strong experience working on transport, civil and earthmoving equipment
n
- Proven ability to fault‐find and work independently in the field
n
- A solid safety mindset and pride in quality workmanship
n
- Current driver's licence (HR licence)
n
- White Card
n
- Good communication skills and a practical, solutions‐focused approach
n
