Job Description
XL Precast is a leading Australian precast concrete manufacturer delivering complex structural precast solutions across industrial, commercial, logistics and data centre developments. We partner with Australia's Tier 1 builders to deliver technically challenging Design & Construct projects from concept through to completion.
n
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our team and play a key role in delivering large-scale industrial facilities and hyperscale data centre projects.
n
The Role
n
Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer/Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the engineering, design and commercial coordination of multiple precast concrete projects from award through to completion.
n
This is a hands-on role requiring a strong understanding of precast concrete construction, consultant coordination and project delivery.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Manage design coordination between builders, consultants, architects, structural engineers, and shop detailers.
n
Prepare, track and close out RFIs, technical queries and design reviews.
n
Coordinate temporary works design including lifting, bracing, propping, and erection methodologies.
n
Administer subcontract packages for precast minor works.
n
Monitor design development from tender through IFC documentation and identify changes giving rise to variations.
n
Prepare, negotiate, and manage variation claims.
n
Coordinate with internal departments including; estimating, detailing, manufacturing, construction, and accounts
n
Coordinate suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely procurement and quality project delivery.
n
Develop and maintain design, procurement, and construction programmes.
n
Monitor project budgets, procurement schedules, and key delivery milestones.
n
Be involved in design workshops, project meetings, and coordination meetings.
n
Coordinate project safety and quality documentation including; Protected Work Method Statements (SWMS), Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), lift studies, high-risk work documentation and project-specific safety management plans.
n
Work closely with Australia's leading Tier 1 builders throughout project delivery.
n
Assist in identifying/mitigating project risks and implementing practical engineering solutions.
n
Skills and Experience
n
The successful applicant will possess:
n
Minimum 2 years' post university experience in a Project Engineer role within the precast concrete industry.
n
Experience delivering industrial, commercial or data center projects.
n
Strong understanding of precast engineering, shop drawings and construction methodology.
n
Experience coordinating design using 2D and 3D BIM modeling methods.
n
Experience administering subcontractors and suppliers.
n
Sound knowledge of contract administration and variation management.
n
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
n
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
n
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
n
Software Proficiencies
n
Experience using the following is desirable:
n
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
n
Microsoft Project
n
AutoCAD & Revit
n
Aconex, Procore or similar document management platforms
n
Qualifications
n
Bachelor of Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
n
Australian Driver's License
n
General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
n
Full Australian Citizenship.
