About the Role:
n
Murrells Freight Service is seeking an experienced Driver Trainer or Experienced Heavy Vehicle Driver to support driver capability, safety, and compliance across our operations.
n
Reporting directly to the Compliance Manager, this role plays a key part in maintaining high standards and supporting our drivers through training, mentoring, and assessment.
n
In this hands‐on safety‐focused role you will be responsible for delivering competency‐based training and assessments, mentoring drivers and supporting compliance requirements.
n
You will work closely with operations, compliance and drivers to promote a strong safety culture and consistent standards.
n
This is a full‐time role with exposure across different areas of transport operations.

Key Responsibilities:

- – Assess and train new and existing drivers
n
- – Conduct driver competency and VOC assessments
n
- – Deliver training and coaching programs
n
- – Mentor staff during probation and ongoing development
n
- – Maintain training records and compliance documentation
n
- – Support Chain of Responsibility, fatigue, and safety compliance
n
- – Assist with incident investigations as required
n
- – Work closely with the Compliance Manager and operations team
n
- – Onboarding of new starters
n
- – Conduct audits of drivers and equipment
n
n
About You:
n
n
- – Current MC Heavy Vehicle Licence with proven driving experience
n
- – Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements
n
- – Previous driver training or assessing experience highly regarded
n
- – Strong knowledge of HVNL, Chain of Responsibility, and fatigue management
n
- – Safety-driven with a calm, skilled approach
n
- – Strong communication and interpersonal skills
n
- – Organised, reliable, and comfortable with compliance requirements
n
- – Ability to prioritise tasks and adapt to the day-to-day changes of transport operations
n
- – Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or working towards
n
- – NHVR Portal knowledge including permit applications
n
- – LF High Risk Licence
n
