The City of Canterbury Bankstown is one of the largest Councils in NSW, delivering a wide range of services to one of Sydney's most diverse communities.

Opening late 2026, the new Canterbury Leisure & Aquatic Centre is set to become the heart of health, fitness and fun in our community. We are now recruiting a number of Swim School Instructors to help deliver safe, engaging and high-quality Learn to Swim programs across our Leisure and Aquatic centres.
n
The role
n
We are seeking enthusiastic and qualified Swim School Instructors to join our team on a casual basis.
n
In this role, you will deliver Learn to Swim classes for children and adults, support water safety education and create a positive, inclusive and enjoyable learning environment for our community.
n
Duties will include but not be limited to:
n
n
- Deliver Learn to Swim classes in line with Council's programs and aquatic industry standards.
n
- Create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
n
- Communicate positively with students, parents, carers and customers.
n
- Set up and pack down equipment safely.
n
- Maintain required qualifications and participate in training and team briefings.
n

You will have:
n
n
- Austswim, Swim Australia or Royal Life Saving Swim Instructor qualification.
n
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
n
- Current Working with Children Check, if you are 18 years or over.
n
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
n
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
n
- Evidence of full unrestricted working rights in Australia.
n
n
Recruitment process
n
Shortlisted applicants may be invited to complete online screening/testing and attend an Engagement Centre as part of the recruitment process.
n

- Online testing issued Friday 21 August 2026

- Engagement Centre (recruitment interview session) set to take place between 26th– 28thAugust 2026
n

Applicants are encouraged to ensure they have their required qualifications, First Aid, CPR and NSW Working with Children Check (if over 18), ready to provide during the recruitment process.
n
Applicants will also be required to complete relevant pre-employment checks, which may include reference checks, a medical assessment and verification of qualifications and clearances.
n
The hourly pay rate commences at $40.80 per hour, including casual loading, and 12% super.
