Central Coast Council
Job Description
Program Officer | Residential Rehabilitation
n
Transformation Centre Dooralong Pty Ltd. – Dooralong NSW
n
Help Create the Environment Where Real Change Happens
n
Real Work. Real Change.
n
If you're looking for a role where you:
n
n
- Sit behind a desk
n
- Passively supervise participants
n
- Simply "check in" and go home
n
n
...this probably isn't the role for you.
n
But if you're looking for meaningful work where every day is different, where you're part of a close-knit team and where you'll genuinely help people rebuild their lives, we'd love to hear from you.
n
At the Transformation Centre, we believe recovery doesn't happen by sitting in a counselling room alone.
n
It happens through structure.
n
Through accountability.
n
Through routine.
n
Through meaningful work.
n
Through positive relationships.
n
As a Program Officer, you'll help create that environment every single day.
n
About the Transformation Centre
n
The Transformation Centre Dooralong is a private residential rehabilitation facility supporting men to overcome addiction, behavioural patterns and life challenges through a structured 10-month residential program.
n
Our program is:
n
n
- Designed by Psychologists
n
- Delivered by a multidisciplinary team
n
- Built around responsibility, participation and accountability
n
- Focused on creating lasting behavioural change
n
n
We don't believe people change because someone tells them to.
n
We believe people change when they're surrounded by consistency, high expectations, meaningful relationships and an environment that supports growth.
n
Program Officers are at the heart of creating that environment.
n
This Isn't Your Typical Support Worker Role
n
Program Officers are responsible for helping run the daily operation of our residential rehabilitation community.
n
Every shift requires leadership, practical problem solving, operational thinking and the ability to build respectful relationships whilst maintaining clear boundaries.
n
You'll work alongside participants—not simply supervising them—but helping them develop the routines, accountability and life skills that support lasting change.
n
Some days you'll be preparing accommodation for new arrivals.
n
Other days you'll be leading community work projects, supporting participants through difficult moments, maintaining the property or helping ensure the Centre operates smoothly.
n
No two shifts are ever exactly the same.
n
More Than Support Work
n
Program Officers spend more time with participants than anyone else.
n
Because of this, you'll often be the first to notice changes in behaviour, motivation, wellbeing or engagement.
n
You won't provide counselling.
n
But you'll play a vital role in each participant's recovery by communicating observations to our Case Workers and Leadership Team,
helping ensure participants receive the right support at the right time.
n
Every conversation matters.
n
Every interaction matters.
n
Every shift matters.
n
Leadership Without the Title
n
You don't need a management title to lead.
n
As a Program Officer you'll:
n
n
- Lead by example every day.
n
- Model the behaviours we expect from participants.
n
- Build trust whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
n
- Help create a culture built on accountability, respect and consistency.
n
- Support your teammates and contribute positively to the team.
n
n
Participants watch what we do far more than what we say.
n
Your leadership matters.
n
You'll Love This Role If...
n
You'll probably thrive here if you:
n
n
- Naturally notice what needs doing.
n
- Enjoy practical work more than sitting behind a desk.
n
- Stay calm when everyone else is stressed.
n
- Can have respectful but direct conversations.
n
- Believe accountability is one of the greatest forms of support.
n
- Treat everyone with dignity and respect.
n
- Enjoy working as part of a close team.
n
- Have sound judgement and common sense.
n
- Like solving problems.
n
- Want to finish work knowing your efforts genuinely mattered.
n
n
What Success Looks Like
n
A successful Program Officer is someone who:
n
n
- Leads by example.
n
- Builds positive relationships whilst maintaining skilled boundaries.
n
- Supports participants whilst holding them accountable.
n
- Communicates openly and respectfully.
n
- Notices when something isn't quite right.
n
- Takes ownership rather than waiting to be asked.
n
- Works collaboratively with teammates.
n
- Uses sound judgement.
n
- Leaves every shift better than they found it.
n
n
Most importantly, they help create the consistency, structure and culture that allows participants to focus on recovery and building a different future.
n

- A low-responsibility position.

n
- Hold people accountable.
n
- Have honest conversations.
n
- Maintain professional boundaries.
n
- Adapt when priorities change.
n
- Stay calm during challenging situations.
n
- Work as part of a highly collaborative team.
