Phillip Riley has partnered with a leading international engineering oragnisation to appoint an experienced Senior Secondary Engineer / Team Lead to join its growing Power & Energy team in Melbourne.

This is an opportunity to combine technical expertise with people leadership, leading the delivery of major transmission and distribution projects while helping to develop a high-performing Secondary & Protection team.

n

Working closely with senior engineering leadership, you will play a key role in delivering complex substation projects up to 500kV, providing technical guidance, mentoring engineers, and ensuring the successful delivery of safe, reliable and cutting-edge power infrastructure solutions.

The Opportunity:

- Leading and mentoring a team of Secondary and Protection Engineers.
n
- Supporting career development, resource planning and day-to-day team management.
n
- Delivering concept, FEED, tender and detailed design for HV substations.
n
- Providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering projects.
n
- Reviewing and approving engineering deliverables to ensure quality and compliance.
n
- Supporting Project Managers and Design Leads throughout project delivery.
n
- Developing strong client relationships and acting as a trusted technical advisor.
n
- Assisting with bids, proposals, technical methodologies and project planning.
n




- Driving continuous improvement and engineering best practice across the team.
n

Technical Responsibilities;

- Protection and control schemes
n
- Metering systems
n
- Electrical SLDs
n
- Short circuit analysis
n
- Protection relay settings and logic development
n
- Interlocking and inter-tripping schemes
n
- Technical reviews and engineering assurance
n

About You:

n

n
- Leadership experience or a strong desire to step into a technical leadership role.
n
- Strong knowledge of substation secondary design principles and Australian utility requirements.
n
- Experience working on projects ranging from 132kV to 500kV.
n
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
n
- Strong problem-solving ability and the confidence to lead complex engineering challenges.
n
- Protection experience is desirable. Engineers with a strong secondary design background looking to broaden their protection expertise will also be considered.
