About the Role
n
The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling enclosures, mechanical components, modules and finished products in accordance with engineering drawings, assembly instructions and quality requirements.
n
The successful candidate will have strong practical assembly skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce consistent, high-quality workmanship.
Experience in electronics manufacturing is desirable but not essential.
n
You will work closely with production and engineering teams to ensure products are assembled accurately, efficiently and in accordance with customer, engineering and quality requirements.
n
Key responsibilities
n
n
- Assemble mechanical components, enclosures, modules and finished products.
n
- Install hardware, fasteners, brackets, panels and mechanical assemblies.
n
- Prepare, route and install cables, connectors and associated hardware in accordance with drawings and work instructions.
n
- Apply labels, adhesives and identification markings accurately.
n
- Use hand tools, power tools and torque-controlled equipment safely and effectively.
n
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly instructions and bills of materials.
n
- Inspect completed assemblies against drawings, specifications and work instructions.
n
- Identify and report assembly issues, defects or quality concerns.
n
- Apply specified torque settings and complete required production and traceability records.
n
- Follow ESD, FOD, safety and product-handling requirements.
n
- Conduct in-process and final visual checks against drawings, specifications and workmanship requirements.
n
- Perform rework and adjustments where required.Follow production procedures, work instructions and quality management systems.
n
- Complete assembly tasks safely, accurately and efficiently.
n

Essential Skills and Experience
n
n
- Previous experience in mechanical assembly, manufacturing or a similar hands-on production environment.
n
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly instructions and BOMs.
n
- Experience using hand tools, power tools and torque-controlled equipment.
n
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
n
- Ability to accurately fit mechanical components, hardware and assemblies.
n
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to follow documented processes.
n
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
n
- Reliable, punctual and motivated with a strong work ethic.
n

Highly Regarded
n
n
- Experience working within an electronics manufacturing environment.
n
- Experience assembling electronic enclosures, equipment racks, modules or finished products.
n
- Experience with cable preparation, connector installation or wiring assemblies.
n
- Experience using measurement equipment such as verniers, calipers or gauges.
n
- Experience completing production and product traceability documentation.
n
- Experience working in defence, aerospace, medical or other controlled manufacturing environments.
n
- Familiarity with quality standards and controlled manufacturing processes.
n
- Experience working with precision mechanical assemblies.
