Job Description
Social Media & Marketing Assistant – Hospitality (Pubs, Cocktail Bars & Events)
n
Are you a multi-talented digital marketer who can seamlessly transition from filming a live DJ set to driving a fresh brand rollout and optimizing key local search terms?
n
We are a busy, high-energy venue group in Waterloo featuring classic pubs, premium cocktail bars, and a packed calendar of weekly events. We are currently executing a comprehensive venue re-brand, and we are looking for a savvy, local Social Media & Marketing Assistant to join our team.
n
This is a part-time position requiring 2 days per week at $30–$35 per hour, with the flexibility to scale up to a 3rd day when we have major events, long weekends, or venue launches (with plenty of advance notice given).
n
If you have a sharp eye for capturing hospitality imagery, know how to build hype on Reels, handle print/digital design, and want to help build, maintain, and protect our new brand identity while keeping our key search terms highly optimized online, we want you on our team.
n
What You Will Do
n
Brand Maintenance & Rollout: Actively assist in launching and maintaining our exciting new venue re-brand across all digital touchpoints, ensuring consistent use of new logos, color palettes, tone of voice, and brand guidelines across the web.
n
SEO Keyword & Listing Management: Research, implement, and maintain a core list of high-value local search keywords across all external directories (including Google Business Profile, Apple Maps, TripAdvisor, and Yelp) to keep our re-branded venues ranking #1 for inner-city hospitality queries. [1]
n
Graphic Design (Print & Digital): Create visually striking flyers, digital banners, menus, and posters using Canva or Adobe Suite for both digital placement (socials, website) and in-venue print displays (poster boards, table talkers) that strictly align with our new branding.
n
Live Event Content Capture: Work on-site during busy event nights to capture the energy, crowds, live music, and guest DJs, turning real-time venue hype into high-impact social content.
n
Food & Drink Photography: Capture high-quality,
scroll-stopping photos and videos of our food menu, cocktail drops, and weekly venue specials using your own phone setup.
n
Weekly Specials Promotion: Design, shoot, and push out creative marketing campaigns to pack out our regular mid-week specials (e.g., steak nights, happy hours, parmi nights).
n
On-Site Content Creation & Hosting: Film, edit, and star in high-quality TikToks, Reels, and Stories in office in Waterloo. Act as the face/voice of the venues when needed.
n
Ticketing & Event Setup: Create, manage, and optimize event listings on ticketing platforms (such as Eventbrite, Humanitix, or Megatix) ensuring accurate pricing, descriptions, and tracking links.
n
Database & Email Marketing: Write, design, and dispatch weekly EDM newsletters highlighting our events and weekly specials using our Now Book It CRM.
n
What We Are Looking For
n
Brand & Re-Brand Experience: A solid understanding of brand identity, aesthetics, and asset management, with the ability to maintain consistency across multiple platforms during a major re-brand rollout.
n
Keyword & SEO Awareness: Foundational knowledge of search engine optimization, local search rankings, keyword integration, and how to maintain high local search visibility through optimized listings.
n
Administrative Attention to Detail: Highly organized with an obsession for keeping digital listings, menus, and operational details up to date across the web.
n
Graphic Design Skills: Proficient in Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud with an understanding of formatting designs for both digital screens and physical commercial printing.
n
Event Content Experience: Proven ability to film clean, high-energy vertical video in low-light, loud, and fast-paced event environments.
n
Hospitality Visual Eye:
A strong portfolio showing you know how to style, light, and photograph food and drink content so it looks irresistible.
n
Camera-Ready Confidence: Fully comfortable appearing in videos, speaking on camera, and bringing a high-energy personality to our social platforms.
n
Gear & Tech: Must own and use your own recent-model smartphone (iPhone/Android) with a high-quality camera suitable for professional social content.
n
Event & Ticketing Literacy: Hands‐on experience setting up ticketed events on platforms like Eventbrite, Humanitix, or similar.
n
Tech-Savvy Marketing Skills: Experience (or fast adaptability) with hospitality databases—specifically Now Book It CRM email builders or similar booking engines.
n
Roster Flexibility: Comfort working 2 days standard, with availability to work evening/weekend event shifts and an occasional 3rd day when given fair notice.
n
Our Interview Process & Practical Creative Test
n
We value real‐world skills over a perfect resume. Shortlisted candidates will follow a simple, two‐step process:
n
Initial Interview (30 mins)
n
A casual chat about your experience, your favorite Sydney venues, and how you handle live venue scenarios.
n
On‐Site Creative Test (1 hour)
n
We will host you at one of our Waterloo venue for a brief, practical exercise. You will be handed a signature venue cocktail/dish and asked to capture 3 high-quality grid photos and one 10-second vertical video showcasing a "$12 Special." On our laptop, you will have 20 minutes to whip up a quick draft design for a digital/print flyer promoting the special adhering to a mock style guide, and write down a list of 5 primary local search keywords you would target to ensure our newly re‐branded venue gets discovered by Waterloo and Alexandria locals online.
n
What's in It for You?
n
Competitive pay rate ($30–$35/hr based on experience).
n
Extra hours and pay when scaling up to that 3rd day.
n
Generous staff discounts across all of our Waterloo venues.
n
A fun, creative, and highly social working environment.
