Job Description
Female Disability Support Worker - Northside ACT

Disability Support Worker – Northside ACT (Casual)

Are you an experienced Disability Support Worker ready to make a meaningful difference?

Connecting Families is seeking a compassionate, patient, and skilled support worker to provide person-centered support to a female participant in Northside ACT with complex disability, communication, behavioural, and health support needs.
n
This is an opportunity for a dedicated worker who enjoys building strong relationships, supporting independence, and helping participants achieve their goals in a safe, respectful, and empowering environment.

About the Role
n
n
- Provide 1:1 disability support including daily living assistance, community participation, emotional support, and skill development.
n
- Support a participant living with intellectual disability, Sturge Weber syndrome, hemiplegia, epilepsy, and glaucoma.
n
- Implement Positive Behaviour Support strategies and follow individual support plans.
n
- Assist with routines, transitions, emotional regulation, and maintaining a predictable and
n
- Support community access, meaningful activities, and opportunities to develop
n
n
Applicants must be comfortable supporting a participant who requires consistency, patience, clear communication, and proactive behaviour support approaches.
n
What We're Looking For
n
n
- Experience working with participants with intellectual disability, complex support needs, or behaviours of concern.
n
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and supportive during periods of distress or emotional escalation.
n
- Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), person-centered care, and trauma-informed approaches.
n
- Strong rapport-building skills and the ability to establish trust with participants.
n
- Ability to follow detailed support plans, maintain routines, and support transitions effectively.
n
- Reliable, flexible, and committed to providing consistent support.
n
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Support daily living skills and encourage independence.
n
- Assist with community access, appointments, and meaningful activities.
n
- Provide reassurance and support with emotional regulation strategies.
n
- Use clear communication, visual supports, and predictable routines to support
n
- Support protected travel practices and community engagement.
n
- Complete accurate shift notes, incident reports, and behaviour observations when
n
n
Requirements
n
n
- Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, or equivalent.
n
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (current or willing to obtain).
n
- Valid driver's licence and reliable insured vehicle.
n
- Experience in disability support, complex needs, or behavioural support is highly
n
n
