About The Role

n

We're looking for a creative and motivated casual Programs & Activities Officer to join our team at the Melbourne Immigration Detention Centre. This is a casual position, and the number of shifts available each week will vary depending on operational needs.

n

If you have a background in education, fitness, training, or arts, this is your chance to share your skills in a meaningful way - supporting detainees to build confidence, learn, and grow.

n

You'll deliver practical, skills-based sessions that support detainee wellbeing and engagement. From life skills to cooking programs,



you'll help design and facilitate activities that make a real difference.

n

Key responsibilities include:

n

- Delivering and supporting group programs and life skills activities
n
- Facilitating education, training, or practical workshops
n
- Contributing to inclusive, culturally sensitive program design
n
- Providing feedback and supporting program reviews and improvements
n
- Responding to emergency situations professionally and safely
n
- Maintaining program spaces, equipment and documentation
n
- Supporting detainees to build capacity and self-management
n

Key Requirements:

n

You're approachable, energetic, and passionate about sharing your skills to help others. You enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds and have a calm, professional manner in energetic environments.

n

n
- Diploma qualification in sports, recreation, learning and development, ethnic affairs or similar (mandatory)
n
- Excellent communication, judgment, and ethical integrity
n
- Ability to gain and retain all relevant clearances (i.e. AFP, WWCC, First Aid & CPR)
n
